“As We Are” is a photographic body of work documenting a collective of drag performers who have Down syndrome. Born from an encounter in the spring of 2024, the project has grown into an ongoing collaboration — capturing its subjects in and out of drag, in performance and in stillness. The work asks quiet but urgent questions about the preconceptions we hold around beauty, desire, and visibility, centering people who are too rarely afforded the complexity of a full, self-determined image. Intimate and unflinching, As We Are is ultimately a portrait of presence — of people living, performing, and existing entirely on their own terms.
